Diluted sulfuric acid is used in the manufacture of fertilizers, soap, rubber, the production of dyes, alcohols, plastics, car batteries, dyeing materials, the manufacture of iron, copper, detergents, the production of superphosphate, paper pulp, sugar purification, some petroleum distillates, and the industrial silk industry. Chemical industries use sulfuric acid in the production of many types of organic materials and some agricultural products. In strong detergents, it is also used in the manufacture of dyes and medicines as an oxidant and dehydrator, and it is also used in the treatment of cooling water.
