Engineer Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Public Enterprise Sector, started his visit to Alexandria by inspecting the Misr Chemical Industries Company, which is affiliated with the Holding Company for Chemical Industries. The minister listened to a detailed report on the company's current position, production capacity, and the most prominent products represented in chlorine, caustic soda, hydrogen and sodium hypochlorite. The offer also included several projects, including the project to construct a new caustic soda evaporator unit, which is expected to be completed in December 2023, and the expansion project of the new industrial wastewater treatment unit, which is expected to be completed in December 2022, in addition to the company recently launching a public bid to receive offers to establish a production and packaging unit. The results of the company's business during the fiscal year 2021/2022 were also reviewed, as the net profit of the achieved increased to 211 million pounds, especially in light of the increase in demand for the company's products of caustic soda and chlorine with the increase in selling prices. The company's exports also increased, reaching 46 million pounds during the fiscal year, compared to about 40 million pounds in the previous year. Engineer Esmat toured the company's factories and production units, including the cells unit, ferric chloride unit, hydrogen unit, automatic control unit, modern central laboratories, and the development work of the new industrial sewage treatment unit and warehouse complex. The minister stressed the importance of the chemical industry, which is included in many industries, as Egypt has a strong infrastructure for chemical industries, pointing to the competitive value of the chemical sector, which is evident by measuring indicators of the growth rate in investment, the number of companies covered by the sector’s umbrella, its contribution to employment and the growth rate of exports. and gross domestic product. The Minister of Public Business Sector also directed the company's management to continuously develop production departments and establish new units to increase production and raise its efficiency in accordance with environmental standards, and activate partnership operations with the private sector.
